In the name of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Belgium, I express our full solidarity and highest support with your party at the eve of the appearance of the Presidium of the Hungarian Communist Workers' Party before a Hungarian Court of first instance under the accusation of « libel made in public » on September 21. It is un-derstood that such accusation could lead to a 2 years' sentence.
We are deeply concerned about the dismantlement of the most basic political and de-mocratic rights in Eastern Europe and also, more and more, in Western Europe.
We strongly condemn the political persecution directed by the judicial authorities against the HCWP, which is part of the anticommunist campaign taking place in Europe, since the anticommunist proposal in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in January 2006, through the illegalization of the KSM in the Czech Republic and the Po-lish lustration law.
In every country of the European Union, it is imperative to defend the freedom of speech, the freedom of association and all political and democratic rights which are en-dangered.
